What are web3 games?

Web 3 games are digital games that use blockchain technology as an underlying component of a game's economy.

Web3 games are a new type of online gaming that has been gaining popularity because it offers some unique features. The most noticeable difference between web based (non-blockchain) and blockchain versions is how player assets (like Connect Four pieces ) can be traded, liquidated or sold for cash.

Eights Games reimagines popular abstract strategy games, like Connect 4, by adding web3 elements to create exciting new ways to play.

To start playing web3 games, you must have a "wallet". Don't worry, you can enjoy ei8hts games completely free! If you don't have one, check this guide! If you have one already and just need some guidance getting connected, check below:

Getting Started, and Click "Connect"

First, navigate to http://app.ei8hts.gg/ in your browser, which will take you to our home page.

Once you’re at the home page, click on "Connect" in the top right-hand corner of the page.

Selecting Your Wallet and Your Account

Here you'll be able to select what wallet you want to connect.

So go ahead and choose one of the options - whichever you setup earlier. If you haven't set one up, please follow this guide.

Sequence Guide

If you've already setup Sequence in the browser you're currently using, it should direct you to the sign-in process and ask you to "sign" a message.

For the ei8hts platform, you're just signing that you're the owner of that wallet.

Click confirm, and you're good to go!

Metamask Guide

If you've already setup Metamask wallet in the browser you're currently using, it should open a pop-up to unlock the wallet and connect it. (Sometimes it doesn't; you'll have to click the Metamask icon in your extensions list.)

You may be asked to sign a message. No worries, in our case this is just you verifying your wallet ownership.

Select the Right "Network"

Sometimes you’ll be on an unsupported network and will see a prompt like the one below.

Go ahead and select “Polygon Mumbai” or "Polygon Mainnet" depending on which option it presents. This should automatically switch your wallet to the correct network for ei8hts games. There may be an additional window or two in your wallet asking you to add the network.

Dont worry too much about what this means right now (it's simply the EVM chain we're using). We’re still in our Alpha testing stage and will be adding support for Polygon Mainnet very soon. We're on mainnet now!

If you’ve successfully connected should now see this or something similar in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

This just lets you know that your wallet is connected to the app and you are ready to start playing!
